3 Credits English,COM,For Lang, & PHI College Skills This is an elective course for any student who wishes to improve reading and study skills in general or specific areas. Students receive individualized instruction and practice in a variety of comprehension and inference skills related to academic college experiences. A lecture and laboratory approach is used, and such skills as studying, reading for content, test taking, and note taking are taught. Students learn to apply these skills in their college-level content courses. The laboratory component provides individualized diagnosis of, and practice in, specific skills and problem areas. Placement in the College Skills course is based on high school records, past academic achievement, Entering Student Assessment test scores, and advisement. 2 hrs. lect.; 2 hrs. lab. Lab fee. Not open to students registered in ISP 070.
