Spring Semester This course is focused on modern cryptology. It begins with a study of matrix encryption and the various attacks that show it to be insecure. Algorithms such as DES (Data Encryption Standard) and AES (Advanced Enryption Standard) are examined in detail, as is public key cryptography. Quantum cryptography is also covered. Prerequisite: MAT171 with a grade of 2.0 or higher. 3 credit hours.
