A one-year introduction with calculus for students in engineering, chemistry, biology, physics, and others. This course includes mechanics, electricity and magnetism, optics, thermodynamics, and modern physics. Co-requisite for PY 211A: MA 117A. Prerequisites for PY 212A: PY 211A, MA 117A, co-requisite MA 118A. PY 211A and 212A satisfy the math/science distribution requirement. Three lectures, one discussion period, one laboratory period a week, two semesters.
