Functions in parametric form and calculus of these functions. Polar coordinates and calculus of functions in polar form. Vectors in two and three dimensional space and the calculus of vector-valued functions. Lines, planes, and surfaces in three dimensional space. Spherical and cylindrical coordinates. The calculus of functions of several variables: limits, partial derivatives, directional derivatives, gradient, tangent planes and normal lines, relative maxima and minima, double integrals in rectangular and polar form, triple integrals. Graphing calculator is required. We recommend TI-84+. Prerequisite: MA 118A.* Four hours a week. *The calculus sequence (MA 116A, MA 117A, MA 118A, MA 219A) requires a solid foundation in the prerequisite material.
