This course provides an introduction to power engineering, and introduces advanced topics in power quality. Power engineering topics include real and reactive power in single phase and polyphase AC circuits, magnetic circuits, tranformers and DC and AC machines. Power quality problems such as electrical transients, harmonics, voltage sag, and nonunity power factor are covered. Solutions and designs to avoid power quality problems are covered. Prerequisite: EE 214A. Three hours of lecture per week.
