Introduction to the processes and systems utilized in the principal areas of environmental engineering— water, wastewater, air and solid waste management. Emphasis is placed on the engineering principles and practices involved in the collection, treatment and disposal of wastewater, the collection, treatment and distribution of water, the types, sources and disposal of solid wastes, and the types, sources, treatment and distribution of air pollutants. A brief introduction to water resources is also included. Prerequisite: CH 118A. Corequisite: CE 338A. Three lecture hours and one three hour laboratory period per week.
