An analysis of theory and research related to the development of thinking. Topics include an analysis of stages and levels in the development of different types of thinking, the relationship between language and thought, and the socialization of thought. Examines the perspectives of several major theorists including Piaget, Vygotsky, and contemporary cognitive theorists. Prerequisite: PS 230A. Satisfies the social science distribution requirement. Three hours a week.
