This course examines major social, economic, cultural, and political aspects of the nineteenth century. Although the specific focus of the topics will differ from year to year, this century’s particular and characteristic developments, such as liberalism, industrialism, revolution, socialism, and class differentiation, will be addressed. Satisfies the humanities distribution requirement. Three hours a week.
