Introduces specific issues and approaches in the study of modern art. Sample topics include (but are not limited to) Impressionism, Symbolism, Cubism, and Expressionism. By focusing on a specific topic within modern art, the course develops the student’s writing and critical skills through intensive study that is not possible in a survey course. Prerequisite: FA 161A or FA 162A or consent of the instructor. Three hours a week.
