Description:
This course covers the application of specialized treatment techniques used in the rehabilitation setting. Included are identification and correction of gait deviations, the use of orthotics and prosthetic devices, and basic neurological treatment procedures. The student is taught the theory and implementation of rehabilitation techniques for patients with spinal cord injuries, cerebrovascular accidents, progressive neurological disorders, head trauma, and orthopedic conditions. Normal development and the treatment of the pediatric patient are also covered. Prerequisites: PTA 110, 111, 112, 114, 150. An average of 73% or higher is required to pass this course. Successful completion of this course is necessary to continue in the PTA course sequence.
