4 credits R.N. requirement. Prepares students to deliver nursing care oriented to health promotion and maintenance needs of families, groups, and communities. Systems theory is applied to consumer groups and to identification of functional and dysfunctional health patterns. Principles of epidemiology are identified and applied to primary, secondary, and tertiary nursing intervention with families, groups, and communities. Health promotion strategies of teaching, advocacy, consumerism, and health planning are explored.
