3 credits This course is an advanced seminar that examines how certain key thinkers have theorized about film in the broad sense of the medium as an aesthetic, social, cultural and historical phenomenon. Discussion about the visceral, affective responses to film as well as issues of form, meaning, and ideology will be accompanied by and developed from detailed analysis of pertinent films.
