Credits: 3 Catalog Description: Surveys music as a form of communication with emphasis on developing understanding and awareness of the techniques and means of using musical sounds for communication and expressing human emotions both actively, from a performer's point of view and passively as an informed, knowledgeable and discriminating listener. Teaching methods include audio and video recordings, attendance at 'live' concerts of various types, classroom discussions, lectures, a performance project, and assigned group projects.
