This course introduces the student to public policymaking in the United States, with emphasis on current health care policy affecting physical therapy practice. The course will consist of active learning activities that are designed to provide the student with a working understanding of public policy and the skills and resources to be an effective advocate for their patients/clients and the profession. The course draws from relevant current legislative and regulatory issues that are before Congress, federal regulatory agencies, and state legislatures and boards. Students will reflect on and discuss these issues in the context of their clinical experiences to date.
