Description:
-
The course explores a wide variety of personal, social, and political meanings of community, including the decline of social and civic participation, political powerlessness, and theories of social fragmentation and political change. Recent theories link both economic development and community improvement to an ability to increase levels of “social capital.” Given its focus, this course will be ofparticular interest to those concerned with these policy areas, or in participating in a general overview of the societal milieu of politics and government.
