Topics include: gathering reliable data, exposing underlying assumptions, variables, and relationships. Choice of modeling levels. Testing and refining of models. Deterministic vs. stochastic models. Applications to biology, physics, chemistry, geology, social science, and environmental sciences. Prerequisite: MATH 211 or consent of instructor.
