An examination of U.S. financial institutions, including the Federal Reserve System, U.S. Treasury, and domestic and international banking systems. Topics will include alternative theories of monetary and fiscal policy, the determination of interest rates and the price level, and the influence of financial institutions on inflation, recession, and growth.
