Topics emphasized are: mechanistic principles relating molecular structure to reaction outcome, stereoisomerism and its effect on chemical reactivity, and simple molecular orbital theory as required to understand aromaticity and to predict the occurrence and stereochemistry of pericyclic reactions. Prereq: CHE 232.
