This eight-week course, offered the second half of the semester, introduces the student to the basic diagnostic tests for the surgical patient, interpretation of these tests, handling and identification of the surgical specimen, surgical patient fluid and nutritional balances, surgical complications, standard precautions, and HIPAA regulations.
