Prerequisites: OADM 161 and 170. Beginning transcription with emphasis on the use of word processing software to process various medical records, discuss the confidential nature of such records, report forms, punctuation, capitalization, number, and abbreviation rules, etc. The use of taped dictation by doctors will enable students to acquire skills in transcribing as well as building speed in their completion of documents on computers. Emphasis will be on developing entry level skills for OADM 220. 3 lecture/laboratory hours.
