Prerequisites: NURP 100, 105, and 110, PSYC 142, LFSC/LFSL 107. Corequisites: NURP 155, 160, and 165. This course is a continuation of NURP 105 and continues to utilize and build on the fundamental knowledge and skills from NURP 100. It is designed to assist students in applying the nursing process to adult patients of varying age groups who are experiencing common health stressors associated with the neurosensory, integumentary, urinary, and reproductive systems and individuals experiencing cancer and the stressor of surgery. Integrated within the therapeutic needs are effective interpersonal relationships, nutritional modifications and commonly used drugs with emphasis on the basic classifications and the physiologic effects on the body. Students are provided the opportunity through clinical experiences to utilize the nursing process in developing a plan of care for patients with more complex medical and/or surgical problems. 4 lecture hours, 22.5 clinical laboratory hours per week for 8 weeks.
