Prerequisite: MASG 260. Corequisite: MASG 270. Students learn how various forms of heat, cold, water, paraffin and other applications can be used to supplement the healing effects of massage. Indications, contraindications and treatment procedures will be covered. Applications may include hot packs, cold packs, paraffin immersions, ice massage techniques and the use of other complementary thermal and cryotherapies therapies. Course subject may include aspects of aromatherapy and essential oils, sound therapy, hot stone massage, hot towel, aquatic therapy and other modalities. 2 lecture hours, 3 laboratory hours.
