Prerequisites: Admission into the Massage Therapy Program, and a grade of C or better in LFSC/LFSL 111. Principles of traditional European & contemporary western massage with historical perspectives will be discussed in this course. An introductory mix of techniques from a variety of modalities will be covered in order to achieve a basic understanding of massage and its history. Some of the modalities used are: Swedish massage, sports massage, neuromuscular therapy & deep massage. 2 lecture hours, 6 laboratory hours.
