Prerequisites: Acceptance into the Health Information Management/Coding Certificate, or Health Information Management/Transcription Certificate programs; and successful completion of READ 011 and ENGL 011, or recentered SAT Verbal score of (R)420 or greater, or appropriate placement test scores; and successful completion of MATH 011, or a CPTS EA score of 40 or greater, or a CPTS AR score of 64 or greater and a CPTS EA score of 32 or greater. This course is a study of human anatomy and physiology through a systems approach with an emphasis on homeostatic mechanisms. Units include cells, tissues, integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous and endocrine systems. This course assumes the student will have adequate computer skills and access to the Internet and recommended hardware. LFSC 108 is intended primarily for Health Information Management certificate programs and does not satisfy the Laboratory Science general education requirement for the A.S. or A.A. degrees. Students not in the named certificate programs should consult their advisor as to the appropriateness of LFSC 108 as an Anatomy and Physiology course in their major.
