Prerequisite: Junior level standing or consent of the instructor. Investigation of the factors and forces at work in the setting of health care costs both private and public and the impacts of those costs. Demand and supply concerns, reimbursement systems, insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, governmental regulations, liability issues, accessibility, budgeting processes and planning, and human resources concerns discussed. Health care financial management tools and techniques will also be presented and utilized. 3 lecture hours.
