Prerequisites: Successful completion of CHEM/CHML 105 with a C or better grade; and junior level standing or consent of instructor. Differences in soils; soil genesis; physical, chemical and biological properties of soils; relation of soils to problems of land use and pollution; soil management relative to agriculture, fertility, erosion, drainage, and plant nutrition. Equipment and techniques of soil science are examined. Research paper on a current topic in soil science or in teaching methodologies is required. 3 lecture hours, 2 laboratory hours.
