Prerequisites: Students must qualify for READ 011, MATH 011, and ENGL 101. This course presents a unified view of science and practice of chemistry. It is an introductory college chemistry course for students not majoring in the sciences. It presents a view of the molecular world and the fundamental role it plays in the phenomena we observe in daily life. It also helps students understand the major scientific and technological issues facing all of us as citizens and consumers. The laboratory is performed with chemicals that are available from grocery stores, drug stores or hardware stores and are found in most homes.
