Prerequisites: A C or better in ELEC 151. An initial course containing information of medical terminology, hospital systems and safety, basic transducers, safety analyzers, and biomedical electronic equipment and test equipment operation and maintenance. Students are introduced to medical and patient interfacing devices. Diagnostic, monitoring and treatment devices are covered. Included are laboratory exercises consisting of the operation, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of biomedical systems. Special emphasis is placed on safety issues, such as ground potentials, and intermachine potentials. 3 lecture hours, 9 laboratory hours.
