Two hours lecture, two hours lab. An introduction to the design and implementation of contemporary manufacturing systems. Single and multiple station, manual, mixed mode, automated, and flexible manufacturing systems are covered. Numerical analysis of these systems to determine production rates, product cost, defect rates, and efficiency will be performed. In the laboratory students will learn to program and operate various types of production hardware including robots and CNC machines. Prereqs: Junior standing in engineering or consent of instructor.
