This course provides the students with a detailed study of the computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging physics and instrumentation information. Course topics include principles of operation, system components, image characteristics, image resolution, image quality, scan design for spiral computed tomography, nuclear magnetism, precession of nuclei, larmor frequencies, production of the nuclear magnetic resonance signal, nuclear magnetic resonance pulses, nuclear magnetic resonance decay, production of the magnetic resonance image, magnetic resonance imaging equipment, image quality, image contrast, paramagnetic contrast agents, safety, and biological hazards. Prereq: Acceptance in the Radiologic Technology program. F
