Description:
This course focuses on the purpose, organization and management of long-term care facilities and related organizations. The importance of long-term care facilities in the continuum of care for the elderly or developmentally disabled is examined. The typical structure, by functional area, of such a facility is presented, and federal and state regulations by area are reviewed. Contemporary issues and current legislation/regulations impacting the long-term care industry are analyzed. This course assists the student to prepare for successful completion of the federal and state examination leading to licensure as a health facilities administrator. Prereq: HP 211 and GERO 315.
