3 credits Not open to biology majors. Prerequisite: BIO 203 or 204 or permission of instructor. This course is designed to provide the nursing student with insight into the nature of bacterial infections and the diseases they cause. Students will be introduced to cell regulation and the chemistry of metabolic processes in bacteria. The mechanisms of antimicrobial drugs will also be studied. Lecture and laboratory.
