This course examines philosophical and religious aspects of death and dying. The course begins with a discussion of the meaning of death and the significance ofdeath as the final terminus of life. Further topics include: the stages of dying and bereavement; legal issues in death and dying; how the major world religions treat death and dying, and the significance and possible meaning of recent scientific inquiry into the near-death experience.
