Moral philosophy is the attempt to achieve a systematic understanding of the nature of morality and what it requires of us in Socrates' words, of how we ought tlive, and why. Examination of thinkers such as Plato, Aristotle, Kant, Mill, contemporary feminist thinkers and the application of rival moral theories to professional and social ethical issues. Counts toward Ethics minor. Prerequisite: Philosophy 205. Spring.
