HTH 100 (Formerly SD 125) Within this course the student will gain use of medical language for appropriate and accurate communication in patient care and professional situations. This course presents a study of basic medical terminology. Prefixes, suffixes, word roots, combining forms, special endings, plural forms, abbreviations, and symbols are included in the content. Emphasis is placed on spelling, definition, usage and pronunciation. Abbreviations will be introduced as related terms are presented. Basic anatomical knowledge will also be presented including anatomical landmarks, direction and positioning, planes of the body and other related material. (1 Credit)
