Prerequisite: permission of instructor. An introduction to the sources of air pollution, the transport of gaseous and particulate pollutants in the atmosphere on local and global scales, transformations of pollutants by atmospheric processes, the impact of pollutants on the environment, the control of sources of air pollution, and legislative mandates. Introduction to meteorological concepts and computer transport models. Current issues such as ozone depletion and global warming will also be discussed.
