This course focuses on the investigation of current issues, trends, materials, and research-based strategies for teaching mathematics at the elementary level. Development of a variety of approaches and materials for effective instruction and evaluation according to National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and PA Academic standards is emphasized along with an introduction to professional organizations and literature available to math educators. Prerequisites: ED201 or equivalent, and MA100. Spring semester. 3 credits.
