This course focuses on the investigation of current issues, curriculum models and approaches, assessment and instructional practices, professional organizations, and literature for teaching mathematics to meet the needs of diverse elementary learners including students who are emotionally or mentally retarded. Emphasis is on the development of a variety of approaches and materials for effective instruction and evaluation according to National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and PA Academic Standards. Pre- or corequisites: ED201 and MA100. Fall semester. 3 credits.
