This course is a survey of the history and experiences of North American Indian cultures north of Mexico. Emphasis is placed on the development of American Indian comparative ethnology within the larger discipline of cultural anthropology. All North American Indian culture areas are introduced and a number of exemplar cultures are selected for in-depth review. This course is for all students interested in cultural anthropology and/or Native American ethnography.
