This course aims at helping students gain skills in reading and appreciating selected readings in Swahili literature. Although the course primarily focuses on plays, novels, poetry, students also are introduced to Swahili songs, comic books, and other forms of popular literature in an attempt to understand the growth and development of contemporary Swahili literature. Prerequisites: permission of instructor and successful completion of AFAS 103D, 104D, 203D, and 204D or equivalent experience.
