Topics include economic growth, poverty, and the distribution of income with an emphasis on labor markets and education. Consideration of the effectiveness of various institutional policies designed to encourage development including decentralization and privatization. Empirical examples drawn from international experience, especially Latin America. Prerequisites: Econ 4011 (401) and Econ 413.
