A survey of the contributions of the behavioral sciences to the understanding and solution of environmental problems that threaten our survival. Insights derived from psychology, anthropology, and computer science are discussed. Major topics include overpopulation, overconsumption of resources and energy, future shock, cognitive limitations in our understanding of ecological-political systems, and the use of behavioral control.
