A first-year composition experience in reading, writing, and critical thinking, centered on the essay. The course emphasizes the processes of writing thesis-based manuscripts as an evolving product, with attention to sentence-level conventions and coherence among well-developed paragraphs. Prerequisite: Satisfactory performance on SAT verbal or ACT exam or Writing 099. A diagnostic exam given in the beginning of the semester will determine if the student needs to co-enroll in Writing 097.
