This cornerstone course focuses on the leadership roles of the superintendent of schools in working with the board of education, and other central office administrative staff in working with principals, school staff members, citizens of the community, and political and educational leaders. Attention is given to these roles as they relate to curriculum and instruction for regular and special needs students and other diverse populations, personnel administration, finance and business management, and buildings and grounds. The course also examines these roles in relation to the strategic planning skills necessary for developing and carrying out the vision and mission of the school district.
