Topics may include: sociological theories of religion, including those of Durkheim and Weber; religion and social change; the social aspects of religious experience; and religious institutionalization with particular attention to the function of religion in contemporary secular societies. Prerequisite: ENGL 110 or equivalent with a C or better or consent of instructor.
