This course examines philosophical and religious concepts discussed in novels, short stories, poetry, and dramatic literature that are intricately related to human nature. Such concepts include: self and self-realization, knowledge, morality, God, good and evil, afterlife, meaninglessness, friendship, love, and eros. A critical exploration of issues. Authors from various historical periods, cultures, and backgrounds will be included. This course carries credit in PHIL or RS. Prerequisites: ENGL 110 and a 'C' or better in PHIL 102 or equivalents.
