Consideration of sociolinguistics in cross-cultural perspective and the various uses for sociolinguistics such as ethnopoetics, the ethnography of performance, language ideology, language planning and language revitalization efforts, as well as learning methods of transcription for anthropological analysis. Prerequisite: ANTH 100 or equivalent.
