Since the end of the Cold War, there has been an increase in nationalism and ethnic conflict throughout the world. This course analyzes this increasingly important international phenomenon, focusing on the causes and the characteristics of nationalism, the international consequences of what might appear to be national problems, and the prospects of con- flict resolution and political reform in areas suffering from these pro- blems.
