The structure of DNA and how it relates to the expression of genes explored through the classical Mendelian genetic model. Exceptions to these rules, along with differences between prokaryotes and eukaryotes, are studied as well. Laboratory experience with plasmids, subcloning DNA fragments in bacterial vectors, and other basic molecular biology techniques.
