This course introduces the student to the concepts of options and option pricing as applied to the problem of making capital investment decisions for a firm. Firms often face investment decisions that include opportunities and options for future strategy shifts and the adoption of new projects. The methods of real options provide a mechanism to analyze the values of these future opportunities. With this course, the student will learn about the theory and application of real options and learn how to identify, analyze and evaluate real options that are imbedded in many corporate investment situations. Note: This course will fulfill the requirement for an options course in the MS-Finance program. Prereq: BUSN 6640. (Good mathematical and analytical skills are needed.)
